The Last One Behind
How the flowers remind us that real courage often means moving at our own pace and still being proud of the progress
One stood out amid spent blossoms, blooming later than the others. While most flowers had already fully bloomed, this single flower was just beginning to open its petals. It seemed out of sync, lagging behind its companions. Yet, there was something special about its perseverance.
This solitary blossom was a symbol of resilience and determination. Despite its late start, it continued to grow, deriving strength from the same sun and soil nourishing its companions. It didn’t rush or try to match their pace. Instead, it embraced its own timing.
My monologue with this flower that morning reminded me that real courage often means moving at our own pace, even when it feels like we’re falling behind. It’s easy to feel left out when everyone else seems ahead. But progress, as this flower shows, doesn’t have to be fast to be meaningful and worthwhile.
This late-blooming flower shows us that being the last one compared to our peers doesn’t make us any less valuable. Courage is about staying true to our path and continuing to grow, no matter how sluggish or solitary the journey might be. Its quiet persistence is a powerful reminder of the strength within us to keep going, even when we feel like we’re the last one left, hanging.
There will always be sunshine for all the courageous late bloomers.
Thank you for spending time with me today.
